Tate climbed our first flight of stairs a few days ago. I sat beside him and saved his life on more than one occasion, but he did it, he crawled all the way to the landing.
Tate got his first bruise a few days ago. Well...first bruise that didn't come courtesey of a shot needle. He remembered his climbing the stairs feat and decided to attempt it while my attention was directed elsewhere for a few seconds. Sneaky little guy. He made it to the first stair and then smacked his eyebrow bone on the tile. He let me know pretty quickly and loudly that he wasn't happy about it! Poor baby
Ainsley learned how to clap and crawl all in one day! It was a big day for our girl.
We stayed for all three hours of church today for maybe the second time in the babies eight months of life. When we got home, Ainsley was so tired that she was falling asleep while eating her blueberry applesauce in her high chair. That church stuff is rough!
Tate lifts his arms up to be picked up out of his crib. I think it's probably the cutest thing ever.
Both babies are pretty attached to their mom. I often find them right at my ankles no matter where I am in the house. They must think they are part kitten because they will rub their heads on my legs to let me know that they should be held.
And yet...the only word that either of them will say is Da Da Da Da. How's that for irony?
Tate and Ainsley visited their third state (other than Arizona) last week when we went to Utah. We jumped at the opportunity to tag along as Matt had a business conference in Salt Lake. Their 5th and 6th flights were both a breeze and I think everyone on both planes was smitten with them by the time we landed.
We discovered that our normally sleep-through-the-night babies don't do so well in a hotel/pack n play atmosphere. Our apologies to all other patrons within earshot of our hotel room between the hours of midnight and 4 am.
Puppy love kicked in while we were at my brother's house. His little Boston Terrier, Buster, was so sweet with the babies and they were intrigued by his mere presence.
The babies and I came down with some nasty colds starting the day before we came home. It's been a week now and we seem to be on the mend. Tate and Ainsley do not enjoy having their snot sucked, but I think this is one of the best inventions ever!
Minus the colds and the bruised eyebrow bone, it has been a great couple of weeks! Halloween is coming and I find myself excited about it for the first time in years. Mostly because I know these little ones are going to look so so cute!
Have a great week!
While we were in Salt Lake, we took the opportunity to see quite a few places that Matt has never seen. The Salt Lake Tabernacle, the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, The LDS Church History Museum, the new City Creek Shopping Center, etc.
We met my cousin, Heather, for lunch one day and then hung out with my friend, Diana, and her cute kiddos on another day. And, dinner with my Grandpa is always a treat!
This is how Ainsley rolls at Chili's.
We were supposed to go on a picnic up Provo Canyon on Friday but our plans were foiled by torrential rains. So, we settled for lunch with Grandpa and Aunt Janae (who made the trip from Boise just to be with us) and then did a little shopping at the BYU Bookstore while we waited for a couple of free lanes at the bowling alley.
Aunt Christine, Travis, and Ryan met us at BYU for bowling and shopping for the black out game the next day.
Tate had to have his hair washed in the bathroom sink after he peed on himself while getting his diaper changed. Thus, the pantless wonder picture above.
Provo is beautiful in the fall! I love my school!
On Sturday morning the babies got in some good cousin play time before most of us headed off for the big game. BYU vs Oregon State.
And then it was time for the game! The babies stayed behind, but they were in their BYU cheering apparel anyway!
Game time!
On the field before the game. My brother, Jared, gets the hook up when it comes to BYU sports.
This was a "blackout" game for BYU. And, since we couldn't find any blackout shirts that we liked in our sizes, my sister and I made our own.
After the game. My brother, Justin, always the funny man, thought it would be fun to cheer for OSU. He was quite entertaining to the BYU fans around us.
Dinner and a movie night.
The next morning it was time to say good-bye. It was so great to see everyone! A special thanks to Jared and Christine and their cute boys for making us feel so welcome in their home. Vacation always passes so quickly!
Tate was so excited to be home!
