Which may or may not happen frequently in the future.
Time will tell.
The celebration of the commencement of a new decade of my life began a day early, somewhere between Matt being pulled over and our arrival at The Keg for my free birthday dinner. Not to worry, Matt escaped with a warning...and a new nickname, Sure Stop.
Les Miserables came to town for the birthday revelry. It was a first time experience for Matt and a wonderful evening in which I was reminded that being thirty is leaps and bounds better than being a French peasant back in the day.
Or at any time for that matter.
June 10th was party day. I arrived at work to find more than 150 balloons and all other manner of birthday decorations and gifts. And then I left early. It was a win/win day at the office.
Later in the evening Matt's weeks of planning came to fruition as we gathered with some of our friends. After filling everyone up on some amazing Mexican fare, we thought a little competition was in order to aid in the digestion process.
Minute To Win It was the inspiration for our event.
10 teams. 7 games. 60 seconds per game.
1 winner.

(We let her use her hands. I know, we're softies.)
Our big winners were Julie and Cory! They went home with a fair amount of chocolate and the knowledge that they have an obscure set of talents.
There was singing and wish making and various other forms of traditional birthday merriment. Matt even had my parents write a letter with various memories and stories of my childhood. And yes, I blew out that massive wall of flames with a single breath. Apparently I have obscure talents as well.
We had lost a couple of people by this point, but for the most part this was our group of party peeps. Thanks to Vicki and Stuart for hosting such a fun shindig in their home and to everyone else for making it such a wonderful celebration. And, a special thanks to my sweet Matt for making my birthday such a fun, special event. I love that I get to spend all of my birthdays with him...clearly wishing on candles really works!

I absolutely love your posts. Even though we are thousands of miles from you and Matt, I feel like I am part of your life. For that, I thank you:) So glad you had a great birthday!
Happy Birthday to you! Thanks for inviting us! It was so much fun. Have a good time in your sophisticated 30's!
p.s. The cupcakes were AMAZING! Holy cow. Can we have those every time I come up there!
I can't take credit for the cupcake deliciousness, they were created by my friend Nichole. I think Matt ate his weight in the strawberry lemonade ones, proof positive that they were outstanding because he's not a huge fan of sweets. Thanks again Nichole!
