We had a wonderful relaxed morning filled with the opening of gifts, cross-country conversing with family, and consumption of our traditional Christmas morning breakfast...Cap'n Crunch (of the crunch berries variety.) In all fairness and reality, our Christmas celebration began the Eve beforehand with a celebratory feast, the reading of the Christmas story in Luke, and the viewing of Home Alone. We were joined in the festivities of the evening by our favorite Mesa peeps and had a wonderful time. No wonder Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year!
Thanks to all for the wonderful gifts and for making our Christmas such a memorable and enjoyable one!
With Christmas in the books, we moved on to celebrate Matt's birthday, the culmination of 2009, the opening of 2010, and last but certainly not least...Bowl Season. The fact of the matter is, we got to celebrate all of the afore mentioned events in a 24 hour period. Whew!
The Hokies' bowl game fell on New Year's Eve this year, which also happens to be the day that we celebrate the birth of my mister. And so, with a bit of fanfare and not a little excitement, the celebration began. There was cheering and moaning and a fair amount of yelling at the television, who took it all in stride. A dinner break at half-time was deemed necessary and so we tantalized our tastebuds with cheese soup and garlic bread, which is the yearly Matt birthday regalement that we've all come to appreciate and enjoy. Matt cheered his Hokies on to victory and declared it a "perfect" birthday. We managed to stay awake until 10:30 in the pm and then gave in to the sleepiness that hit without warning. Don't worry, I cashed in my raincheck for a New Year's kiss!
New Year's Day brought the much anticipated Rose Bowl game. Alas, no amount of cheering on our part could sway defeat from being handed to the Ducks. Have to say bummer! Oh well, we had a great time watching them this season and are looking forward to next year.
We've had a wonderful celebratory week and are looking forward to accepting with open arms all that 2010 has to offer!
Happy New Year to all and to all a good night!
