It was a hot and humid evening at the beginning of July when I finally rolled in to my new home in Falls Church, Virginia.
It was the beginning of a new adventure.
One that proved to change my life forever.
A conversation with my friend Megan ended up being the catalyst for this life changing move across the country. We both decided that we were in need of something new and she just so happened to know a girl that lived out by DC with a room for rent in her house. That was all it took. We packed up a couple of weeks later and headed out. We drove separately since we both needed to have our cars out there. At one point along the journey I got a call from Megan that made me a tiny bit nervous. She was thinking about just staying with her cousins in Arkansas. Not good news for me. She was the one with the connection to my future roommates, and since I didn't want to end up homeless, I did all I could to convince her to keep on truckin up to Virgina.
It worked. We arrived within a day of each other and the rest is history.
I met Matt a few months later and we started dating. We got engaged after I had lived in Virginia for just a year.
4 years ago today was my last night in Virginia and my last night with my cross country adventure partner and friend, Megan.
It took us a little while to make other friends after we moved out there so in the first few months, when we had only each other, Megs and I may or may not have resorted to a little bit of cheesiness to keep ourselves entertained.
On my last night there, we made a video of some of that cheesiness.
We may have been a bit nerdy, but we sure had a lot of fun.
I'll always be thankful for that year where we were brave and ventured out of our comfort zones and across the country together.

Incidentally, that move turned out to be a pretty good one for Megs as well.
She married our videographer.
